Bring it 2015

Once again I have neglected this poor little blog. I can’t remember what I last posted about! Anyway the past few months have been crazy! I have lost count of how many things I’ve crocheted this year must be close to 100. Finished up the last of the Christmas orders on Christmas Eve eve and had couple days off before starting on some barefoot sandals for a beach wedding. 2.5 pairs down and had better bust out the last one this weekend so they are ready. Much to Peyton’s delight I started his Superman amigurumi cuddly today and am half way through that too. The boys have a long list of things I NEED to crochet for them 😉 Guess what everyone will be getting for their birthday’s this year.

Well actually there is another reason to go handmade this year for all pressies because we are saving like crazy for the Disneyland trip in October. We have something else in the pipeline but I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned it but I don’t want to jinx it but fingers crossed for a  green light in May for our big little dream. It will be totally amazing so I’ve been sending it out to the universe that it happens this year for us.

The boys school reports were not fantastic when it came to writing especially. I’m really disappointed in their teachers for not bringing anything up earlier in the year about concerns. We could’ve been on to things earlier and organised tutors. Hunter feel will come in to his own this year now he actually likes going to school but Peyton is so quiet he slips under the radar in the classroom 😦 Seems you have to be the naughty kid or the extremely academic to be noticed. So mean mummy has been making him write a diary every couple of days to improve his skills over the holidays.

We have the school pool key for the summer. Hunter still won’t put his head under – so glad we spent all that money on swimming lessons last term 😉 Hopefully he will tomorrow when we take his goggles. Peyton is just a fish but we will sign him up for lessons this term too as he has no technique.

Mr Boo Boo aka Eli is still our little baby. So grown up now – he stands to pee which was self initiated. May not be a big deal to most but it is to us seeming he was late to train! He took to it like a duck to water though and was our easiest yet! He has absolutely loved kindy especially Thursdays because Jaxon his best buddy is there. He is my little partner in crime during the week while the big two are at school and Dean is at work.

We decided after another slight fail beach trip that we are not beach people. Dean and I both feel the same about sand – it’s annoying and not enjoyable. We are fussy on beaches so travel nearly an hour to Orewa for nicer sand and sea-lice free ocean to paddle in for the boys to ask if they can go home after an hour. Give us swimming pools any day of the week!

Christmas was relaxing and wonderful. We hosted lunch only and did our own thing for breakfast and it was the best! No rush in the morning just hanging out in our pj’s eating pancakes and waffles with lots of syrup and cream all which went to my hips. Our pantry is stocked with junk food courtesy of Dean’s parents. So much sugar that I am a sucker for!

I am grateful for good health of our little family last year – no hospitals or surgeries. Hardly a visit to the docs all year which is a bit of a miracle with three young boys.

So here’s to good health and new adventures for 2015! Plans going to plan it’s going to be epic!IMG_0040 IMG_0055 IMG_0060

Other shit that happened the past few months in no particular order:
Halloween party at C3 and trick or treating
Dance festival at school

Boys plays at school assembly

Grandparents Day at school

Book parade

Santa parade school float

Tree lighting ceremony

Funday at school

Made our first gingerbread house – shit we even made two and neither collapsed #winning

Junior Athletics

Kapa Haka for Peyton

Holy crud it’s August!!!

School run
Crossfit run
Scout run
Creche run
Kindy run
Yarn supplies run
Coffee run

Pretty much what my life has consisted of the past 3 months!

I turned 30 in June! I was in complete denial and even hid my birthday from Facebook. I kept it quiet and let the boys ditch school on the Friday and we went and had hot chips at Mission Bay, played at the park and then went to the Coffee Club for coffee, fluffies and red velvet cake. Hunter has discovered a new dessert love.

My crocheting has taken off so I had to set up a little FB business page – QT Stitch to keep up with orders. I’ve just completed my first two amigurumi which are super cute! (baby Pikachu and a baby unicorn – design by Little Yarn Friends!) Both free patterns too if you do a quick Pinterest search. I’ve had to make my crochet board secret so I don’t look like a total crazy pinner 😉

Crossfit East Auckland did a fundraiser for Heart Kids NZ – Peyton got all shy with all the people watching but I’m so proud of Hunter for taking part for his big bro! They raised close to $1500 so that’s pretty awesome! Hunter was stoked he got to be in the local newspaper. (That makes all of us having made it in to the paper in the past 7 years – I win though 3 times hee hee)

Hunter has settled into school properly now and is doing well and enjoying it. Phew! He even has a girlfriend – they’re getting married in our front yard. I’m not invited. I have to remember to not leave my middle baby out as he can be very stereotypical of the middle child. Tonight we had an acapella session on his top bunk – everything is awesome!!!!

Peyton is impressing us so much with his reading and independence. Love that he gets up and makes breakfast for his brothers and cold coffees for me – so cute! Not entirely in love with the 7 year old attitude though – testing to say the least! He has just started Kea Scouts too – he loves it like I knew he would.

Eli turned three a couple of weeks ago. I am so sad about it. My little baby is growing up way too fast 😦 I just want to freeze him at this age forever. He’s trouble all over but my little partner in crime and a true mama’s boy. I love it especially as he was so hardwork as a baby. It’s nice to be on the otherside of that. He loves going to crèche and kindy. I love our little icecream dates together while the big boys are at school.

Had a great girly night out seeing Maleficent – if you haven’t seen it do! It was fantastic. Now I’m hanging out for Catching Fire Part 1.

We took the boys to Disney on Ice – we totally surprised them which was really cool. Peyton loved it the most. He was amazed by the iceskaters.

My love for Dean has grown more since our holiday – we truly needed that time to find us again as husband and wife and not just as Mum and Dad to Peyton, Hunter and Eli. I love that man so much.

Well that’s the past few months in a nutshell.

Once again I have stayed up to late on a Sunday night!

Our Trip!

Well Dean has been well and truly bitten by the Disneyland bug. I told him it was contagious. I’ve been carrying it around for ten years and going back just felt like going home.

We loved pretty much everything about California (the small part we got to see!). Santa Monica is lovely. Hollywood  was interesting you could say and not anywhere we will be rushing back to. At least we can say we’ve been there done that.

Shopping oh the shopping! Seriously ripped off back down here in little ole NZ. I mean come on Ralph Lauren Jeans for $20 USD VS $180 NZD. And the selection even for things like toys was about triple what we get here. So we did a fair bit of shopping. Was a bit like Xmas morning when the boys got home from school that afternoon. Did all their Xmas shopping too so that’s all been put away until December. We did Citadel which was awesome and of course we hit Walmart, Target and a couple of little shoe and dickies shops.IMG_5452

Baseball game was a tonne of fun and lucky for us we were surrounded by Yankees fans! Go the Yankees! And go that massive nacho hat bowl – omg so goooood! Definitely a must do at a game along with a nice big Corona. Fantastic atmosphere and gotta love the Rally Monkey!

I’m really glad we did another day at Disneyland especially as Indiana Jones had reopened (was supposed to be open the first day we went but wasn’t quite ready yet!). Even though it broke down nine times the cast members were fantastic and we got given free fast passes to use on any other ride in either park (apart from Radiator Springs Racers and World of Color). Taking Dean to Disneyland in fact Cal in general was like taking an excited child. Man he was so cute! We had a blast pulling different faces on rides, single rider is awesome as we weren’t worried about being in the same ride together all the time. Half the time we got on the same ride together anyway! 5 min wait VS an hour wait for the Matterhorn I know what I will choose every time! Fireworks were magical, food was pretty damn good. Can highly recommend the Firehouse Sundae from the Icecream Parlour on Main St.  We didn’t try a Dole Whip but have added it to our must do’s for next time.IMG_0461IMG_0478aIMG_5666

Downtown Disney is just a fun place to hang out. I didn’t have a churro in the parks but got one there and it was my little piece of dessert heaven.

Yes there will be a next time! Next year December actually with all the boys. Watch out California Team Hildreth is coming and we bring the fun! The boys are excited and Eli will be tall enough for most of the rides (just over 40 inches). We’re planning on doing two weeks in California and doing LEGOLAND and a Chargers game too. We were going to wait until Eli was about 8 but decided life’s too short so California here we come!

The most amazing 10 days

Well Dean and I just got back from California on Wednesday and it was awesome! I’m getting through all our photos as I shot 80% of them in RAW so that will take a couple of days! There’s over 600 photos!!! It was really nice just the two of us. Seems so long ago already and we both miss it so much. Now to start saving so we can take the boys back next time.

Only bad thing is I got a slight cold over there and then that with the air pressure on the plane on the way back gave me an ear infection so that’s not fun right now!

Was nice to see our boys again and give them big long hugs. Eli wouldn’t let me go for about half an hour 🙂 Hunter needed the day off yesterday – poor little guy didn’t cope the best with us being away. He’s keen as to get back to school today though and it’s his news day so he’s taking the map of Disneyland and the Angels giant foam finger.

Right back to editing photos – it’s 5.30am but I can’t sleep properly because of my ear. Hoping the antibiotics kick in soon!

Is it Sunday yet?

I love my boys with all my heart but this holiday can not come any sooner!!!

Today they were not my children – they were complete ferals. I have no idea where there behaviour came from today but it was the type of behaviour where you as a parent want to find a rock to hide under. They climbed up into a friend’s kitchen pantry to look for something to eat (where’s that damn rock to hide under!!!???), had tantrums, answered back.

So it was straight home for lunch and to bed for all three. Only the oldest fell asleep for an hour and a half. Middle son fought it and was a general right royal pain in the butt until official bed time. Dean and I are shattered!

Tomorrow is another day to start fresh and another day closer to getting on that plane!

Dear Thursday, You suck

I was sooooo organised this morning. Like unbelievably which is a rarity for us to be organised before 8.30am most days. I had an email from Hunter’s teacher apologising for the late notice but was I able to do his 6 week progress report this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon or Thursday morning at 815am. Wait when was this email sent??!! 15th April! Oh shit oops should probably check my emails everyday from now on.

Emailed her back at 6.30am this morning saying no problem we could be there at 8.15am. Then I was on a mission. I was wide awake after a rough night with a sick Peyton who needed me throughout the night because his throat is sore and he just need his mama.
I made milos, had a cold coffee in the fridge from yesterday afternoon so though sweet saved myself from having to do one extra thing this morning. Cooked a fresh batch of paleo pikelets for Hunter to take to school for lunch (my secret weapon for the kid who won’t eat fruit at school!) Got dressed, fed kids breakfast, ironed on name labels to school sweaters seeming the temperature had dropped and it’s windy as heck outside. Oh and POURING with rain – even cyclone Lusi wasn’t this wet and windy.

So here we were at 8.05am ready to go out the door. I sent the boys out with the keys like I do every morning while I check to make sure the lights are off etc. I go outside and no one is in the car, seriously guys I said why are you not in the car while it’s raining?!

It won’t open

Yup nope wouldn’t unlock with the button so had to unlock the driver door side with the key (1st world problems).

Dead battery – so dead it wouldn’t even make a pathetic attempt and sounding like it might start. No problem I thought I have the portable battery charger! Nope not able to find it anywhere in the garage at all. Ring Dean at work – he has no idea where it might be. So helpful. Phone is flat so charge that a bit to get FIL’s number, ring that twice and no answer. Missed the interview late for school by this stage.

So reported Peyton absent for genuinely being sick in bed and Hunter for the fact that today sucks and I had no way of getting him to school on time let alone at all today.

Peyton is back in bed watching a movie, Eli is dressed as Robin, Hunter took his uniform off and is dressed as Batman and they two of them are reading Thomas the Tank Engine books in the living room.

Dean told me to just chill and eat ice cream.

Well if he insists who am I to argue? 😉
